Chestnut Hill Historic District to meet Thursday, September 17th

The Chestnut Hill Historic District Commission is scheduled to meet this Thursday, September 17th at 7:00 p.m. in Room 205 and is expected to take up the following requests:

  • request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to place seven windows; six already replaced and a request to resize two front windows for property located at 33 Orchard Road;
  • request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to replace rail system over left side addition for property located at 37 Reservoir Road;
  • request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to build an attached one-car garage, playroom addition, and small addition to dining room; to enclose existing screened porch and build second floor addition over porch; to change some door and window locations; install pool, patio, fencing and shed in rear of property; replace existing, windows, shutters, doors and roof and install new garage door for property located at 100 Old England Road. This request has was heard on August 20, 2015;
  • request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to modify sleeper porch and to change railing systems for property located at 355 Hammond Street.  This request was heard on June 18th and the August 20, 2015 meetings;
  • request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to change stone veneer material for front bay for property located at 374 Hammond Street;
  • request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to install 38 solar modules for property located at 33 Kingsbury. This request was heard on August 20, 2015;
  • request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to replace front door and remove storm door for property located at 8 Nancy Road;
  • request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to restore and repair exterior elements, to replace window sashes, to replace asphalt shingle roofs, and to install new windows at mansard roof dormers for property located at 37 Suffolk Road;
  • request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to change approved balustrade material from wood to solid cellular vinyl and to approve removal of left side chimney for property located at 46 Suffolk Road.

Auburndale Historic District Commission to meet Tuesday, September 8th – Demolition of Wass Hall on Lasell College Campus on the Agenda

The Auburndale Historic District Commission is scheduled to meet on Tuesday, September 8th at 7:30 p.m. in Room 205 and is expected to discuss the following:

  • request for Certificate of Appropriateness to replace front porch elements for property located at 32 Woodland Road;
  • request for Certificate of Appropriateness to demolish Wass Hall, to modify and update the envelope and walkway of Wolfe Hall, and to build a new adjoining building which is located at Lasell College – 204-220 Woodland Road.  This item was last heard on August 11th, 2015 and the hearing continued; and
  • request for Certificate of Appropriateness to install a five foot black aluminum fence along the front and a portion of the side property lines and to install cedar fence panels along the rear and a portion of the side property lines for property located at 33 Woodland Road.

The Chestnut Hill Historic District Commission is scheduled to meet this Thursday, August 20th at 7:30 p.m. in Room 205 and discuss the following applications

  • a request to install a driveways for property located at 231 Chestnut Hill Road;
  • a request to replace a second floor sun porch with an open air deck install a double door and install three windows for property located at 355 Hammond Street, (this is a continuation from the June 18th meeting);
  • a request to install solar modules (38) for property located at 33 Kingsbury Road;
  • a request to construct several additions (an attached one-car garage, playroom, dining room addition, enclose a screened porch and construct a second floor addition over the porch), relocate some doors and windows, install a pool, patio, fencing and shed, replace existing windows, shutters, doors and roof and install a new garage door for property located at 100 Old England Road;
  • a request to replace seven windows -six of which have already been replaced and to resize two front windows for property located at 33 Old Orchard Road;
  • a request to replace a front door, second floor front windows, replace a rear deck, replace a one-story garage with a one-and-a-half story garage, replace and extend an existing fence, install a new front turn-around, install AC compressors and construct a retaining wall for property located at 62 Beacon Street (this is a continuation from the July 16th meeting)

Auburndale Historic District Commission to meet Tuesday, August 11th at 7:00 p.m.

Newton Upper Falls Historic Commission to meet Thursday, August 13th at 7:00 p.m.

No Board meetings week of July 6th – Upper Falls Historic Commission Meeting and memo from Land Use Chair re: Austin Street Schedule

There are no Board meetings this week – July 6th.

However, the Upper Falls Historic District Commission meeting will meet on  Thursday, July 9th at 7:30 p.m. in Room 205. The Commission will review of as-built drawings for the gable end of a barn, and review window and vent installations and the process to repair the sidewalk at 59 High Street, a request for modifications to a landscape plan to include a 35-foot retaining wall and steps on the north side of the driveway and to install wood instead of previously approved fiberglass gutters at 43-45 High Street; and continue a working session on a proposal to renovate an existing house and build an addition at 70- 72 High Street.  For more information on these or other Upper Falls Historic Commission matters, please contact Barbara Kurze at 617.796.1129 or bkurze@newtonma.gov.

Land Use Chairman Marc Laredo issued the following schedule for the Austin Street Special Permit Application:

July 21st – Framework discussion.

September 24th – Discussion of the Planning Department’s vision for Newtonville and how this project fits within that vision.

October 6th – Discussion of the design for Walnut Street and how this project fits within that design.

October 20th – Discussion of any remaining issues.

October 27th or 29th – Discussion of any remaining issues.

November 10th and 12th – Final presentation, final public comments, close public hearing.

November 16th– Target date for Board of Aldermen vote.

The Auburndale Historic Commission will meet on Tuesday, June 9th at 7:30 p.m. in Room 205 and will discuss the following items:

33 Woodland Road, to build two new houses on subdivided lot, continuation from May 12, 2015 meeting;

204 Woodland Road, to replace porch columns and porch guard rail, rebuild porch stairs;

256 Woodland Road, to rebuild sun room;

46 Vista Avenue, to replace existing garage with three-car garage.

Newton Upper Falls Historic District Commission to meet on June 11, 2015 at 7:30 p.m.

The Newton Upper Falls Historic District Commission is scheduled to meet on Thursday, June 11th at 7:30 p.m. in Room 205.

The agenda includes the following:

1. 43-45 High Street – Certificate of Appropriateness Request to modify approved landscape plan to add 35-foot long retaining wall and steps on north side of drive and to change approved fiberglass gutters to aluminum.

2. 342-344 Elliot Street – Certificate of Appropriateness Request to build 15-seat outdoor patio addition to rear of existing building.

3. 80-82 High Street – Certificate of Appropriateness Request to replace fence along left and right side of property and to replace a section of the rear fence.

4. 232-234 Elliot Street – Certificate of Appropriateness Request to replace doors and walkway; to remove front awning, fence and piers; and to seal coat driveway.

5. 70-72 High Street – Working Session Request for feedback on proposed project to renovate existing house, add carport and egress landing, and build rear addition with in-ground garage.

6. 117 High Street – Certificate of Appropriateness Request to replace replace windows.

7. 59 High Street – Certificate of Appropriateness Present drawings for solutions to remedy the project so that it aligns with the drawings originally submitted and approved.
