Area Council Meetings

Newtonville Area Council:  The Newtonville Area Council is scheduled to meet on April 12th, at 7:00 p.m. in the Cafeteria at Newton City Hall. The agenda can be found here.

Chestnut Hill Historic District Commission Meeting – April 19th

The Chestnut Hill Historic District Commission is scheduled to meet on Thursday, April 19th at 7:30 p.m. in Room 205.  The agenda includes the following requests for Certificate of Appropriateness:  slate roof repair and copper hip and ridge installation at 25 Essex Road, house and garage roof replacement from fiberglass to slate at 37 Suffolk Road, replacement of casement windows and grass paver turnaround at 350 Beacon Street, final approval request for chimney cap, porch screen replacement, window coating and rear wrought iron fencing at 34 Beacon Street, garage demolition request with new garage replacement, rear and side sunroom extensions, replacement of sunroom screens and doors with windows and construction of rear deck at 29 Reservoir Road, and continuation of a discussion of restoration and replacement of stucco, replacement of windows and doors, rear balcony installation, bridge balusters, hardscaping and grade changes at 152 Suffolk Road.  Please see the revised agenda for more information.

Newton Upper Falls Historic District Commission Meeting – April 12th

The Newton Upper Falls Historic District Commission is scheduled to meet on Thursday, April 12th at 7:00 p.m. in Room 205.  The agenda includes the following:  requests for a Certificate of Appropriateness for the following:  driveway repavement, installation of a new walkway, addition of gravel parking areas and a boulder wall at 21-23 High Street, sign installation at 287-301 Elliot Street, continuation of a discussion to convert barn/garage to dwelling unit at 1272 Boylston Street. Revised Date: Auburndale Historic District Commission Meeting – July 27th

Urban Design Commission, Newton Historical Commission, Chestnut Hill Historic District Commission and the Community Preservation Committee to meet this week

The Urban Design Commission is scheduled to meet this Wednesday, November 18th at 7 p.m. in the Planning Department’s Conference Room (B11).  The agenda can be found here.

The Newton Historical Commission is scheduled to meet this Thursday, November 19th at 7 p.m. in the Cafeteria.  Eight full demolition requests,  three partial demolition requests and three requests to waive the demolition delay are on the agenda.  The agenda can be found here.

Newton Upper Falls Historic District Commission to hold special public meeting – Thursday, October 29th

The Newton Upper Falls Historic District Commission will hold a special meeting on Thursday, October 29th at 7:30 p.m. in Room 205 and is expected to discuss and review the 70-72 High Street application for a Certificate of Appropriateness – to renovate the existing house and build a rear addition.

Chestnut Hill Historic District Commission to meet on Thursday

The Chestnut Hill Historic District Commission is scheduled to meet on Thursday, October 29th at 7:00 p.m. in Room 205 and is expected to discuss the following requests for Certificate of Appropriateness:

  • Request to replace seven windows – six already replaced for property located at 33 Old Orchard Road;
  • Request to replace a rail system over the left side addition for property located at 37 Reservoir Avenue;
  • Request to install 38 solar modules, continuation from August 20, 2015 for property located at 33 Kingsbury Road;
  • Request to replace front door and remove storm door for property located at 8 Nancy Road;
  • Request to restore and repair exterior elements, to replace window sashes, to replace asphalt shingle roofs, and to install new windows at mansard roof dormers for property located at 37 Suffolk Road;
  • Request to approve removal of left side chimney for property located at 46 Suffolk Road;
  • Request to remove a chimney and to replace the roof, gutters and downspouts for property located at 413 Hammond Street;
  • Request to replace a one‐story garage with a one‐and‐a‐half story garage and to plant new hedge along front sidewalk 62 Beacon Street.

Auburndale Historic Commission meeting – October 13th

The Auburndale Historic Commission will meet on Tuesday, October 13th at 7:00 p.m. in Room 205 and is scheduled to discuss requests for Certificates of Appropriateness for the following properties:

  1. 30 Williston Road – to replace garage
  2. 17 Leighton Road – to remove deck and install a deck and kitchen addition to the rear and side.
  3. 20 Fern Street – to install second chimney.
  4. 84-86 Grove Street – to install 35 solar panels on side and rear roof faces.
  5. 19 Hawthorne Avenue – to replace asphalt roof with metal roof.
