Newton School Committee to Meet on Monday, October 1st

The Newton School Committee will meet TONIGHT at 6:00 p.m. in Executive Session in Room 304 to discuss the following:

  • Conduct strategy with respect to collective bargaining negotiations with the Newton Teacher’s Association; to discuss the reputation, character, physical condition or mental health, rather than professional competence, of an individual, or to discuss the discipline or dismissal of, or complaints or charges brought against a public officer, employee or staff member;
  • Discuss strategy with respect to collective bargaining or litigation if an open meeting may have a detrimental effect on the bargaining or litigating position of the public body;
  • Review and vote to release certain Executive Committee meeting minutes (see agenda)

The School Committee will then reconvene in regular session at 7:00 p.m. in Room 210. The agenda includes the following:

School Committee Meeting – Monday, September 17th – 6:00 p.m. – Executive Session then 7:00 p.m. Regular Open Session Meeting

The School Committee will meet in Executive Session on Monday, September 17th at 6:00 in Room 304 at the Ed Center to discuss collective bargaining strategy with the NTA (Newton Teachers Association) and an update on the Middlesex Superior Court Civil Action case:  Koplan et al. v. Following Executive Session, the School Committee will convene in Open Session at 7:00 p.m. in Room 210 at the Ed Center. The agenda includes the following:

Newton School Committee to meet on Tuesday, September 4th – Executive Session on Collective Bargaining with the Newton Teachers Association and vote on Agreements with the Custodian’s Association and the Secretaries Association

The Newton School Committee will meet on Tuesday, September 4th.

First, they will meet in Executive Session at 5:30 p.m. in Room 304 at the Ed Center to discuss collective bargaining strategy with regard to the NTA and the NESA and will also be given an update on the Koplan et al v. Newton School Committee case and special education litigation. (See Meeting Notice)

The Committee will then reconvene in Open Session at 7:00 p.m. in Room 210 at the Ed Center. The agenda includes discussion and vote on a MOA with the Newton Public Schools Custodian’s Association, discussion and vote on an MOA with the Newton Educational Secretaries Association, discussion of 2018-2019 Systemwide Goals and Superintendent Goals, discussion and vote on the School Committee Calendar and agenda items, discussion and vote on Fusion Academy, discussion and vote on policy updates for JFABE(military children), JFABF(foster care children) and JRA(school records).

School Committee to Meet Monday, June 18th

The School Committee is scheduled to meet on Monday, June 18th – first, in Executive Session at 5:30 p.m. in Room 304 at the Ed Center to discuss strategy related to Collective Bargaining and then at 7:00 p.m. in Room 210 at the Ed Center to hold its regularly scheduled meetng.  The agenda includes:

  • Update on High School Start Times
  • Fiscal and Operational Update
  • Facilities Update
  • Discussion and Vote on Equity Policy Guidelines
  • Superintendent Assessment

The School Committee will meet in Executive Session on Monday, June 11th at 5:30 p.m. in Room 304 at the Ed Center to discuss strategy related to Collective Bargaining.

School Committee to Meet on Wednesday – May 30th – Public Hearing on School Choice and Vote to Move Horace Mann to Carr School

The School Committee will meet on Wednesday, May 30th.  The first meeting is a special meeting that will convene at 5:30 p.m. in Room 304 at the Ed Center, to conduct training for the Superintendent Evaluation Process.  The School Committee will then meet at 7:00 p.m. in Room 210 at the Ed Center and will hold a Public Hearing on School Choice.  Following the Public Hearing the School Committee will discuss and vote on School Choice, discuss updates on 1:1 Technology and Equity Policy Guidelines, Recognize School Committee Student representatives, Recognize CVTE Graphic Students and NPS Logo Design, vote to permanently move Horace Mann to Carr School, vote on appointments to the Designer Selection Committee and vote to approve Field Trips.  The agenda can be found here.
