City Council Committee Reports – Now Available

Public Facilities – 2/19/2020 Report: The Public Facilities Committee voted to approve the following:

  • Three Re-appointments to the Energy Commission:
    • James Purdy
    • Michael Gevelber
    • Halina Brown

All other items were held.

Public Safety and Transportation – 2/19/20 Report: The Pubic Safety and Transportation Committee voted NO ACTION NECESSARY on the following item:

  • Request for public comment on priorities for transportation planning

The report contains many great comments and suggestions. A good read.

Zoning and Planning Committee – 2/24/2020: The Zoning and Planning voted to approve the following:

  • Request to review and amend Section 7.3.3.C.5 of Chapter 30, Newton Zoning Ordinance, to: a) further inform the objectives of reducing energy consumption and limiting use of natural resources

The Committee voted NO ACTION NECESSARY on the following:

  • Request to amend City of Newton Ordinances, Chapters 3, 7, 10, 13, 17, 18, 20, 21, 22 and 30 to rename the Department of Parks & Recreation to the Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture

  • Appointment of Nicole Banks as the new Commissioner of Parks, Recreation and Culture
  • Request to amend the City of Newton Ordinances, Chapters 3, 7, 10, 13, 17, 18, 20, 21, 22 and 30 to rename the Department of Parks & Recreation to the Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture

The Programs and Services Commission voted NO ACTION NECESSARY on the following:

  • Previous request to amend the City of Newton Ordinances, Chapters 3, 7, 10, 13, 17, 18, 20, 21, 22 and 30 to rename the Department of Parks & Recreation to the Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture
  • Request to discuss with appropriate members of the School Department and School Committee fees in the Newton Public Schools
