Newton Human Rights Commission: The Newton Human Rights Commission will meet on Tuesday, March 3rd at 7:00 p.m. in Room B-15. The agenda includes the following:

Biosafety Committee: The Biosafety Committee will meet on Wednesday, March 4th at 7:00 p.m. in Room B15. The agenda includes the following:

Commission on Disability: The Commission on Disability will meet on Wednesday, March 4th from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. in Room B17. Note: This meeting is in addition to the Commission’s regularly scheduled monthly meetings. Reports, including CDBG access projects will not be discussed. The agenda includes the following:

  • Introductions
  • Getting to Know Each COD Member
  • Short and Long Term Goals for the Commission
    • Discuss events like the 30th ADA Anniversary co-sponsor with HRC and FHC
    • Consider Accessible Parking Fines Funding Opportunities
    • Identify other goals/ideas/projects/ working with other city commissions
  • Implementation of these Goals
    • Meeting Structure to gain more time for planning and discussion of goals/ideas/projects

Newton Cultural Council: The Newton Cultural Council will meet on
Wednesday, March 4th at 8:30 a.m. in Room 211. (Note: the agenda says Monday, March 4th – but pretty sure they meant Wednesday) The agenda includes the following:

  • Approval of previous meeting’s minutes
  • Grantee event schedule and assignments of NCC members to attend
  • Discussion and roles and responsibilities of Council members, Cultural Development staff and others
  • Susan Silberg, Civic Moxie
  • Rigor of Our Own Adjudication
    • NCC consistently lax on firm date and venue
    • Assign grant reviewers to attend and provide site reports
    • Asking for full amount – make clear standards (30%)
    • Visit funding limit on projects presented at the Senior Center

    • Arts Excellence – what does this mean and how do we fund it?

Newtonville Local Historic District Commission: The Newtonville Local Historic District Commission will meet on Thursday, March 5th at 7:30 p.m. in Room 205. The agenda includes the following:

  • Request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to amend a previously approved patio configuration, location of rear porch stairs, and front step material. Also, to add a step in the rear yard, a granite cap to basement egress wall, and a walkway from the driveway. In addition, remove concrete sides from the front stairs and eliminate the second set of stairs to the street at 25 Page Road.
