City Council Meetings Week of December 1st

Land Use Committee: The Land Use Committee will meet on Tuesday, December 3rd at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber. The agenda includes the following:

  • Request for a Special Permit/Site Plan Approval to raze an existing deck and construct an addition on the first floor, creating an FAR of . 50 where .20 is allowed and .45 exists at 38 Fenno Road – See Planning Memo

  • Request for a Special Permit/Site Plan Approval to allow a 3-story, 24-unit multi-family dwelling greater than 20,000 sq. ft. of new gross floor area, to allow ground floor residential units, to reconstruct and further extend, non-conforming side setbacks, to allow an FAR of 1.4 in a 3-story structure, to waive 24 parking stalls, to waive minimum stall depth requirements, to waive the maximum driveway width requirement and to allow a retaining wall greater than 4′ in height within a setback at 20 Kinmonth Road – See Planning Memo
  • Request for a Special Permit/Site Plan Approval to allow four single-family attached dwellings in two buildings, to allow reduced side setbacks, to increase the allowed lot coverage, to allow a driveway within 10′ of the side lot line, and to allow retaining walls greater than 4′ within a setback at 145 Warren Street

Public Facilities Committee: The Public Facilities Committee will meet on Wednesday, December 4th at 7:00 p.m. in Room 204. The agenda includes the following:

  • Request for a Grant of Location to relocate a pole on Clark Street
  • Request for a Grant of Location to install conduit at the intersection of Langley Road and Centre Street to 10 Langley Road
  • Request to appropriate and expend $300,000 from Free Cash for continuation of site remediation project at 687 Watertown Street – Newton Early Childhood Program
  • Request discussion with the Sustainability Team to create an ordinance to limit or prohibit the installation of fossil fuel infrastructure in new construction and substantially renovated buildings, as well as clarify the Council’s authority to prohibit the extension of gas mains subject to the condition of the existing infrastructure
  • Request to appropriate and expend $129,250 from the City’s FY2019 allocation from the Commonwealth Transportation Infrastructure Fund to be used for concept design engineering services for the Complete Streets design of the Wells-Nahanton Traffic Signalization and Intersection Improvement Project
  • Request to appropriate and expend $500,000 from the Stormwater Management Fund Surplus – available for appropriation account to remove and dispose of an estimated 3,720 cubic yards of sediment from the three City Hall ponds and influent culverts of Cold Springs and Hammond Brook
  • Request to appropriate and expend $1,500,000 and authorize a general obligation borrowing of an equal amount for the purchase, delivery and installation of individual self-metered parking heads for on-street metered parking, and where appropriate, kiosks in city-owned parking lots and on-street locations
  • Request to appropriate and expend $5,750,000 for the Walnut Street/Austin Street Newtonville Project:
    • $4,050,000 authorization for a general obligation borrowing
    • $1,700,000 from the Austin Street mitigation funds provided as a condition to the Special Permit
