What’s Happening in Newton this week?

Slow week for the City Council, School Committee, and Boards and Commissions. The only Council meeting will be a meeting of the Zoning and Planning Committee TONIGHT at 7:00 p.m and will include discussions on adoption of the Washington Street Vision Plan and the Washington Street Zoning Ordinance. Apparently, there will be a motion for No Action Necessary on the proposal (filed by Councilors: Albright, Auchincloss, Crossley, Downs, Kelley, Lipof, Greenberg, Krintzman, Cote, Noel, Leary, and Danberg)to place a temporary “suspension” of landmark designation (see agenda here).

No School Committee meetings but there are two Boards and Commission Meetings scheduled for this week. The Newton Retirement Board will hold a special meeting on Tuesday (see meeting notice) and the Conservation Commission will meet on Thursday (see Agenda). Dog park fans, take note: The proposed Norumbega Dog Park is on the agenda.

A draft Transportation Demand Management Plan has been submitted for review for the Northland Project. That document can be found here.

More surveys: In addition to the Create Newton Survey, the City is looking for feedback on it’s website. To take the survey, please go here.

As mentioned last week, there’s a municipal election coming up this fall. All City Council and School Committee seats are up for grabs.
