There are so many Cultural and Community Events this month – check out the Newton Calendar of Arts for a more detailed listing. But here are a few highlights:

The Final Weekend of the Piano Summit will take place on Saturday, May 18th from 1 – 3 p.m. at the United Parish Church in Auburndale, 64 Hancock Street.  Featured artists:  Leo Genovese and Wes Wirth Global Ensemble.  The event is free.

The Commonwealth Lyric Theater will present Carmen by Bizet at Newton City Hall, War Memorial on Friday, May 17th and Saturday, May 18th at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased here.

The New Philharmonia Orchestra will perform on Saturday, May 18th at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, May 19th at 3:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 848 Beacon Street.  The program, Classics III: American Fete is dedicated to the memory of Linda Plaut. Tickets can be purchased here.

Celebrate Waban Village Day on Sunday, May 19th beginning at 10 a.m. with a Family Fun Run. More information can be found here.

Historic Newton will host its annual Newton House Tour on Sunday, May 19th from 12:00 – 5:00 p.m. Tickets are $35 in advance; $40 on the day of the tour. Begin at Durant-Kendrick House and Grounds at 286 Waverly Avenue to pick up a map for the self-guided tour. More information can be found here.
