City Board and Commission Meetings – Week of February 24th

Parks and Recreation Commission:  The Newton Parks and Recreation Commission will meet on Monday, February 25th at 7:00 p.m. in Room 204. The agenda includes the following:

  • Introduction of New Members

  • Commissioner’s Report on Programs, Forestry and Management
    • St. Mary of Carmen – Informational

Council on Aging and Advisory Board:  The Council on Aging and Advisory Board will meet on Tuesday, February 26th at 7:30 p.m. at the Newton Senior Center, 345 Walnut Street. The agenda includes the following:  General Update from the Director of Senior Services, Housing Group update, NewCal update, Communications Group update, and Transportation Group update.

Citizens Commission on Energy:  The Citizens Commission on Energy will meet on Wednesday, February 27th at 7:00 p.m. in Room 211. The agenda includes the following:

  • Presentation of the Draft Climate Action Plan
  • Report of the February 14th meeting with Eversource

Newton Free Library Board of Trustees:  The Library Board of Trustees will meet on Wednesday, February 27th at 9:00 a.m. in the Trustees Room at the Library. The agenda includes:  Reports from the President, Treasurer, Library Director, Development, Friends, Committees – Trustees/Friends and Spring Fling, continuing business – Solar Panel project, renovation plan update, and draft 2019-2020 budget, parking discussion, and visitor’s discussion.

Newton Zoning Board of Appeals:  The Zoning Board of Appeals will meet on Wednesday, February 27th, at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers and Room 207. The agenda will focus on a request for a Variance to increase the lot coverage to 21.75%, where 20% is the maximum allowed per Section 3.1.3 of the Newton Zoning Ordinance, in order to construct a roof over the front porch and a future 55 square foot kitchen addition.

Newton Historical Commission:  The Newton Historical Commission will meet on Thursday, February 28th in Room 205. The agenda includes the following:

    • Request to demolish a pedestrian bridge over the Charles River (“Springer Bridge”)
