City Board and Commission Meetings – Week of February 10th

Washington Place Liaison Committee:  The Washington Place Liaison Committee will meet on Monday, February 11th at 6:00 p.m. in Room 106C. The agenda will focus on updates on construction and installation of steel.

Auburndale Historic District Commission:  The Auburndale Historic District Commission will meet on Tuesday, February 12th at 7:00 p.m. in Room 205. The agenda includes the following:

  • Request for a Certificate of Appropriateness (Violation) for approval of an as-built second-story railing system at 29 Fern Street
  • Request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to enclose two right-side porches at 51 Hancock Street
  • Request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to demolish an existing garage and connector and build a new garage, connector, and addition at 347 Central Street

Community Preservation Committee:  The Community Preservation Committee will meet on Tuesday, February 12th at 7:00 p.m. in Room 204. The agenda includes the following:

  • Discussion of recommended additional CPC administrative funding for work on conservation restrictions for past CPA-funded land acquisitions
  • Discussion of program planning, budgeting, outreach, and staffing
  • Updates from staff on current/anticipated proposals and projects

Economic Development Commission:  The Economic Development Commission will meet on Tuesday, February 12th at 6:30 p.m. in Room 211. The agenda includes the following:

SEPAC – The Special Education PAC will co-host a presentation, “Executive Function Skills in Children and Adolescents” with the Newton Public Schools – on Wednesday, February 13th from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. in the Auditorium at Newton North High School, 457 Walnut Street. Youth Commission:  The Youth Commission will meet on Wednesday, February 13th at 5:00 p.m. in Room 211. The agenda will focus on finalizing the Newton Teen Mental Health Survey Outreach and Distribution.

Conservation Commission:  The Newton Conservation Commission will meet on Thursday, February 14th at 7:00 p.m. in Room 204. The agenda includes the following:

  • Presentation by an Eagle Scout, David Morsefield, for a proposal to install water bars along the River Road trail in the Norumbega Conservation Area
  • Presentation by MAPC Consultant, Anne Herbst, for an update of the City’s Hazard Mitigation Plan
  • NOI (Notice of Intent?) – Request for an Order of Conditions for the tear-down/re-build of a single-family home at 170 Upland Road
  • NOI (Notice of Intent) – for the tear-down of existing building and removal of existing parking lot and construct 3 town houses and 22 condos (with underground parking) and dredge and landscape at 1114 Beacon Street
  • OOC – (Order of Conditions) – Site visit resulted in discovery of unpermitted deck at 79 Staniford Street
  • COC – (Certificate of Compliance) – Request for a COC for an Order of Conditions for an addition to a single-family home at 70 Truman Road
  • NOI – (Notice of Intent) – Renovation of a single-family home at 204 Dedham Street – NOTE:  Extension to March 7th meeting because applicant unable to provide requested materials in time
  • Request to create a new Commission policy regarding observation of test pits for stormwater management systems conducted on sites requiring Conservation Commission permitting
  • Conservation Area Decisions – Norumbega Conservation Off-Leash Dog Park Memorandum of Understanding
  • Administrative Decisions – Nahanton Conservation Restriction – encroachment at driveway entry

Newton Upper Falls Historic District Commission:  The Newton Upper Falls Historic District Commission will meet on Thursday, February 14th at 7:00 p.m. in Room 205. The agenda includes the following:

  • Request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to install an HVAC condenser at 969 Chestnut Street
  • Request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to build fences and expand driveway areas at 216-218 Elilot Street
  • Request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to approve as-built retaining walls, walkway, parking spaces, bluestone area, gravel areas, and stone borders at 21-23 High Street
