Other City Board and Commission Meetings

The following Boards and Commissions are scheduled to meet this week:

Crescent Street Housing and Rev. Auburndale Historic District Commission: The Auburndale Historic District Commission will meet on Tuesday, September 26th at 7:00 p.m. in the War Memorial Auditorium. The following requests for Certificate of Appropriateness will be reviewed: request to expand the driveway area at 63 Hawthorne Avenue;  request to amend the previously approved project for a rear addition and deck at 17 Leighton Road; request to install air conditioning condensers at 33 Hancock Avenue;  request to expand and pave the driveway area at 16 Williston Road; and a  request to install two 70-foot tall field light poles at 70 Studio Road, Lasell College-continuation. Elections Commission:  The Elections Commission is scheduled to meet on Tuesday, September 26th at 5:00 p.m. in Room 211 and will discuss the following:  Certification of the Preliminary Election, Review of the Election Commission’s mailing for the November election, and an Update on the Election Commission’s Charter Education Forum for October 12, 2017. Zoning Board of Appeals:  The Zoning Board of Appeals is scheduled to meet on Tuesday, September 26th at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers and will hold a public hearing on the following:  a request for a variance of approximately 7.5 feet from the 15 feet rear yard setback requirement of the Newton Revised Zoning Ordinance for an old (pre-1953) lot in order to build an attached two-car garage. Board of Licensing Commissioners:  The Board of Licensing Commissioners is scheduled to meet on Tuesday, September 26th at 7:00 p.m. in Room 204.  The agenda can be found here.

Urban Design Commission:  The Urban Design Commission is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, September 27th at 7:00 p.m. in Room B10 (Planning Conference Room) and is expected to discuss the following:  60 Needham Street – Big

Health Advisory Council:  The Health Advisory Council is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, September 27th at 7:00 p.m. in the Health Conference Room 106C.  The agenda can be found here.

Community Meeting:  Update on the Rumford Landfill Solar Project on Thursday, September 28th at 6:00 p.m. in Room 211.  The Notice of the Meeting can be found here.

Chestnut Hill Historic District Commission:  The Chestnut Hill Historic District Commission is scheduled to meet on Thursday, September 28th at 7:30 p.m. in the Cafeteria and will discuss the following requests of Certificate of Appropriateness:

  • Request to install granite curbing to deal with water erosion issues for property located at 339 Hammond Street and 15, 27, 30, 33, 39 Kingsbury Road;
  • Request for approval of installed curbing and edging. Violation for property located at 109 Old Orchard Road;
  • Request to replace asphalt roof sections in-kind and to replace 31 window
    inserts for property located at 30 Kingsbury Road;
  • Request to install garden fence and gate – (Continuation) for property located at 314 Hammond Street; 
  • Request to amend a previously approved application: relocate condensers and
    generator, remove rear stairway, and changes to dormers, roof plan, railing
    systems, doors, windows and downspout materials for property located at 44 Woodman Road;
  • Request to demolish part of basement wing and replace with three-car garage.
    Restore historic pathways for property located at 152 Suffolk Road; and
  • Working session for Request for Commission feedback on exterior repairs and on removing garage ell and installing new foundation, addition, side porch and carriage house for property located at 521 Hammond Street.

Conservation Commission:  The Conservation Commission will meet on Thursday, September 28th at 7:00 p.m in Room 204 and is scheduled to discuss the following: Eagle Scout Candidate Presentation, Notice of Intent for a minor drainage plan change at 777 Dedham Street (Mt. Ida College – Swap pervious pavement (on approved plans) for 4 tree box filters (on new proposed plans); Notice of Intent to construct  6 single family homes and driveways, construct a private road, increase flood storage capacity and implement restoration planting plan along river.at 56 Farwell Street;  Notice of Intent to demolish an existing Single Family Home to construct a duplex with drainage, landscaping,
