Other City Board and Commission Meeting – Week of June 6th

The following other City Boards and Commissions will meet this week:

Planning and Development Board:  The Planning and Development Board will meet on Monday, June 5th at 7:00 p.m. in Room 204 and will discuss the following: Rezoning of Washington Place – Hearing Continuation/Vote; Board of Survey items pursuant to Estate Drive (Kessler Woods LLC) and Farewell Street (VTP Associates); Discussion and Vote of the Reprogramming of CDBG funds from the FY16 Architectural Access Funding Pool to FY17 Curb Cuts; CAN-DO/MetroWest Presentation on the organizations’ Financials and 2017 outlook; Public Hearing and Possible Vote on 236 Auburn Street by CAN-DO/MetroWest;  Discussion and possible vote on a request to Rezone 29 Hovey Street from Multi-Residence 2 to Business-Use 2.  The agenda can be found here.  For more information, please contact Rachel Powers by phone at 617-796-1125 or by email:  at rpowers@newtonma.gov.

Economic Development Commission:  The Economic Development Commission will meet on Tuesday, June 6th at 7:30 p.m. in Room 204 and will discuss the following:  updates on the following:   N2 Innovation District, Washington Place Special Permit, Economic Development Strategy Funding Request, Northland Proposal on Needham Street,  West Newton Square/Walnut Street Streetscapes, and the Wells Avenue Property Owners Meeting – Zoning Redesign.  There will also be an update from the Chair on the following:  rDNA Ordinance Change (June 7 @ 7:00 p.m. City Council Programs and Services, Rm 211 June 12 @ 7:45 p.m. Public Hearing @ City Council Zoning and Planning) – Food Trucks Ordinance Introduction, and the Commission will hear a presentation from the Northland Development.The agenda can be found here.  For more information, please contact Barney Health, by phone at 617-796-1000 or by email at bheath@newtonma.gov.

Solid Waste Commission:  The Solid Waste Commission will meet on Tuesday, June 6th from 6:30- 8:30 p.m. at the Newton Free Library in Room B.  The agenda can be found here.

Health and Human Services Advisory Council:  The Health and Human Services Advisory Council will meet on Tuesday, June 6th from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. The agenda can be found here.

Fair Housing Committee:  The Fair Housing Committee will meet on Wednesday, June 7th the Committee at 8:00 a.m. in Room 205 to discuss the Orr Project/ Washington Place and resources for auditing for housing discrimination in Newton. Newton Upper Falls Historic District Commission:  The Newton Upper Falls Historic District Commission will meet on Thursday, June 8th at 7:00 p.m in Room 205 and will discuss the following requests for Certificate of Appropriateness:  request to build one-car garage for property located at 10 Cliff Road, request to replace windows for property located at 48 Pettee Street, request for approval for demolition on barn that exceeded scope of work approved by the Commission (note this was a violation) for property located at 23 High Street and a request to install retaining walls and hardscaping for 23 High Street. Community Preservation Committee:  The Community Preservation Committee will meet on Thursday, June 8th at 7:00 p.m. in Room 204 and will discuss the following: proposal (housing and historic preservation for property located at  236 Auburn Street to create 8 rental units affordable at up to 50% of area median income (AMI) – working session & potential CPC funding vote, pre-proposal discussion of Jackson Road New Senior Housing / Haywood House – Newton Housing Authority for $2 million for 8 rental units affordable at 30% AMI, 24 units affordable at 60% AMI, and 10 units affordable at 80-99% of AMI.  The agenda can be found here.  For more information, please contact Alice Ingerson by phone at 617-796- 1144 or by email at aingerson@newtonma.gov.
