The following City Council Committee Reports are now available:
Finance Committee: The Finance Committee met on Monday, May 8th and voted to approve the following: request to transfer of $45,000 from the Municipal Building Full-time Salaries Account to the Municipal Building Maintenance Repair-Maintenance and Public Building Administration, Consultants Account, a transfer of $15,000 from City Hall Operations Full-time Salaries and $5,000 from the Library Building Maintenance Part-time Salaries account to the Public Building Administration, Consultants Account to provide funding for the Public Buildings Department do additional work including the City Hall computer room air conditioning and window insulation, installation of an HVAC unit at the police annex, plumbing repairs, and solar energy consulting services and a transfer of $5568 from the PC Hardware Account and $18,629 from the Municipal Building Maintenance Full-time Salaries to FY 17 Operating Budget Vehicle Account to purchase a craftsperson vehicle, a request to transfer $75,000 from the Planning Department Full-time Salaries Account to the Planning Department Consulting Services Account to develop a Complete Streets Guidebook, appointment of Emma Watkins to the Newton Taxation Aid Committee and a re-appointment of Matthew Chao to the Newton Taxation Aid Committee. Zoning and Planning Committee: The Zoning and Planning Committee met on Monday, May 8th and voted to approve the following: a request for a technical amendment to the Newton Zoning Ordinance to edit incorrectly transcribed language pertaining to the time periods for special permit lapse and extension. All other items were held but note there was a discussion about the rDNA technology and research facility siting to remove the requirement for a special permit and a discussion about rezoning the Stanton Avenue Water Tower Site that was declared surplus by the City from Public Use to MR3. Land Use Committee: The Land Use Committee met on Tuesday, May 9th and voted to approve the following: the request to withdraw a request for a special permit/site plan approval to rectify an already built garage for property located at 129 Cabot Street, request to withdraw a request for a special permit/site plan approval to construct a 3-story, 6 unit multi-dwelling for property located at 39 Herrick Road, request for an extension of time to exercise special permit #2-15, granted on April 6, 2015 to repurpose an existing vacant building into a mixed-use commercial facility including general office, medical office, laboratory, retail uses, and restaurants for property located at 300 Boylston Street, request to withdraw request for a special permit/site plan approval to alter the use of the existing nonconforming detached barn by converting it into a residential unit, creating a three-family in two structures for property located at 62 Walnut Park, a request for a special permit/site plan approval to construct a single family dwelling, extending the structure vertically within the nonconforming front setback for property located at 37 Troy Lane, and a request for a special permit/site plan approval to construct a two-story rear addition, increasing the nonconforming two-family use and nonconforming FAR for property located at 49-51 Clinton Place.
