The following City Council Committees will meet this week:
Land Use Committee: The Land Use Committee is scheduled to meet on Tuesday, December 6th at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber and is scheduled to hold public hearings on the following petitions:
- request for an extension of time to exercise a special permit granted for property located at 157 Herrick Road – rehabilitation of Farwell Hall, construction of an addition, and grant of a parking waiver and relief from other parking lot requirements,
- request for special permit and site plan approval for a number of improvements to “The Street” – 1-55 Boylston Street including construction of new buildings – in excess of 20,000 sq. feet and up to 60 feet in height, parking within a setback, extension of Farmers Market special permit, amendment to the signage special permit and permission to reduce size and stall width and depth for certain parking spaces, and exceptions to the lighting and landscaping requirements (see Planning Department memo)
- request for special permit and site plan approval for property located at 143 Rumford Avenue to construct a self-storage facility which will be three-stories, 79,746 square feet with a height of 36 feet, increasing the FAR to 1.35 where 1.5 is the maximum allowed by right and a waiver of 32 parking stalls and other parking requirements (see Planning Department memo)

Programs and Services Committee: The Programs and Services Committee is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, December 7th at 7:45 p.m. in Room 211 and will meet and review 7 appointees to the Advisory Council of Health. Public Safety and Transportation Committee: The Public Safety and Transportation Committee is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, December 7th at 7:45 p.m. in Room 205 and will discuss the following: request to amend the snow removal ordinance to establishto criteria s for requiring removal of snow in all districts by property owners, occupants, and property managers from sidewalks abutting their property and to review and amend enforcement provisions including fines, a request from Lasell College for 2 new bus licenses, and a request to review Traffic Council responsibilities and transfer stop signs and safety upgrades to the Executive Branch. Public Facilities Committee: The Public Facilities Committee is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, December 7th at 7:00 p.m. in Room 204 and will hold public hearings for requests for grants of location for the following: installation of conduit in front of 75 Huntington Road, installation of pipe from Putnam Street to Winthrop Street, installation of wireless communication near 530 Dudley Road, installation of wireless communication near Hay Road, installation of wireless communication near intersection of Sargent and Centre Street, and installation of wireless communication near 93 Sevland Road. Following these public hearings, the Committee will hear an update from the Department of Public Works regarding the City’s Roads Program in response to a docket item requesting the creation of a strategic plan for improvement of streets and sidewalks.
